William “Bill” F. Clasen, III, passed away peacefully at his home on September 20, 2026.
Bill was born on December 4, 1951, to William and Marian Clasen in Mineola, New York, and grew up on Long Island, where he developed his life-long love of boating and all things water. He was proud of his early days as a boat captain on the ferries and talked often of his adventures and the people he met on those ferries. Bill graduated high school from Marianapolis Preparatory School in Thompson, Connecticut, where he made several special friendships that he maintained throughout his lifetime. The same is true of his Mitchell College friends.
Bill moved out west to attend Arizona State University and later moved to Nevada and California, where he spent time working in the gold mines and candy factories in his early adult years. He was employed by Bently Nevada for many years. Bill moved east to Florida in 1989 and remained an avid boater and fisherman, often spending time on the ocean and at the sandbars. His children were so fortunate to have been exposed to Bill’s love of the outdoors, spending time camping, fishing and playing on the water.
He started his company, Food Plant Mechanical, Inc., in 1998, which remains a successful industrial refrigeration piping company. He worked hard and traveled often and was very proud of the success of the company.
Bill is survived by his wife, Lisa Clasen, of Stuart, Florida; his daughter, Jennifer (Andy) Plenge, of Poulsbo, Washington; his daughter, Taylor (Davis) Lacombe, of Indiantown, Florida; his stepson, Brian Powell, of Melbourne, Florida; his three precious granddaughters: Meghan Sommer, Madison Sommer and Laney Lacombe; his sisters, Donna Clasen and Beth “Susie” (Emmett) Blevins; his niece, Jennifer Shaber; nephews, Adam Shaber, Mark Shaber, Tony Gold, Jason Gold, Chris Salata and Matt Salata; and several cousins and great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Marian Clasen; sister and brother-in-law, Marianne and John Gold; and nephew, William Gold. He was also preceded in death by his most precious, much loved golden retrievers, Captain, Arrow, Maxx and Daisy.
