William (Bill) Winslow

Age 71 | Port St. Lucie, Florida

Bill Winslow, also known as Willie to his friends and family, born in Corinth, NY, passed away September 14, 2026 following a short and courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by his family.

Bill was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. At the heart of his life was his family. Bill and his wife Jacqueline (Birsett) shared more than 51 years of marriage, building a life together filled with love, family, friendship, adventure, and countless treasured memories.

A hardworking and talented master mechanic, Bill spent his career in the construction industry. Through his work, he developed many lasting friendships, and people who began as coworkers and business associates often became lifelong friends. Bill was known as an excellent storyteller and shared countless stories. With a lifetime of experiences to draw from, he always seemed to have a story to share - whether it came from his years working in construction, one of his many travels, an adventure in the mountains, or simply one of life’s everyday moments. He had a way of bringing a story to life, often with humor and a detail or two that made it unmistakably Bill’s. His stories entertained family and friends and frequently became stories they would go on to retell themselves.

In the last few years of his life, Bill had the special opportunity to build a business alongside his sons, working side by side with them and sharing the knowledge and experience he had gained over a lifetime. It was a source of pride for Bill and a meaningful legacy he leaves with his sons.

Bill had a great love of travel and adventure. He especially enjoyed cruising with his wife and together they visited ports throughout the world, experiencing new places and creating friendships. As much as Bill enjoyed seeing the world, some of his happiest times were spent at the home he and his wife shared in the Smoky Mountains of North Carolina. He loved the beauty and peacefulness of the mountains and enjoyed hiking, fishing, and spending time with good friends. He was an avid collector of classic cars and enjoyed car shows and festivals there. 

Above all, Bill cherished his family. He was a loving father to William (Willie) Winslow, George Peck and his wife Patricia, and Alicia Duponty and her husband Gary. He was a proud and loving grandfather to Joscelyn Feulner, Shiana Colon, Devon Peck, Logan and Harley Duponty. The love he shared with his grandchildren and the memories they created together will remain with them always.

Bill is also survived by his brother, James Winslow; sisters, Peggy Mosher and Judy Winslow; brother-in-law Donald (Buzz) Birsett and his wife, Nanette; and sisters-in-law Rosemary Bronzene and Brenda Birsett. He also leaves behind several nieces, nephews, and cousins, along with extended family and the many dear friends he made throughout his life.

Bill is preceded in death by his mother, Glenice; father, William; brothers, Peter, Alfred, Earnest, Leroy, and Donald; mother-in-law, Alberta Birsett; and father-in-law, Donald “Buzz” Birsett; sisters-in-law, Victoria Birsett and Linda Winslow.

Bill and Jacqueline were especially blessed by the friendship and support of their dear friends Dotti and Rich Molski, Amanda Tannerhill, Dan Polin, Stan and Diane Holden, Stan and Linda Wester, and John and Becky Wheeler. During Bill’s final months, their kindness, companionship, and unwavering support brought tremendous comfort to both Bill and his wife.

The family also extends heartfelt gratitude to Jacqueline’s career family, Carl and Lisa Klepper, Bobby and Lori D’Angelo, and Cindy England, whose friendship, love, and support during this difficult journey meant more than words can express.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the doctors, nurses, and caregivers of the University of Miami Hospital and VITAS Hospice for the compassion, kindness, dignity, and exceptional care they provided to Bill and his family throughout his illness and final days. Their care and support will never be forgotten.

A Celebration of Bill’s Life will be held on Saturday, September 26, from 1:00pm to 5:00pm, at Bill and Jacquie’s home (574 SW Backert Ave, Port St Lucie, FL) allowing family and friends to come together to share memories, stories, and celebrate a life so well lived.

A second Celebration of Bill’s Life will be held in Luzerne, NY at a date in late October to be announced soon.
