Michael Eugene Weinberg

We are deeply saddened by the loss of our beloved husband, father, and friend, Michael Eugene Weinberg. Michael passed at Treasure Coast Hospice surrounded by his loving family on January 18, 2026. He was 84 years old.

Always a devoted family man, true to his tenacious personality, he was equally driven in business. Following retirement from his 14-year Nascar career, Michael founded the manual transmission parts business, Rockland Standard Gear, and became a partnership owner in a retail transmission shop. Additionally, Michael held the position of the Manual Units Technical Editor of Transmission Digest. For nearly four decades, hundreds of his “Up to Standards” columns appeared in the magazine.

If you knew Michael beyond his business, you recall a guy who made memorable conversation, never lacked for an opinion and nearly always made you laugh. As his friend, Bobby Mace shared, "I recall asking a question while at RSG one day. Chewing his trademark unlit cigar, Mike energetically proceeded by blending the transmission-related answer I sought with a story about his military service, an opinion on the nation’s political leadership and a surprise funny ending. That was Mike!" In his "spare time" Michael’s hobbies included being a fan of automobile road racing, as well as a team driver, and he enjoyed playing golf.

Michael left an impression on all that he met and will be deeply missed by his friends and family.

He is survived by his wife, Shirin, daughter, Mia, and stepson, Ali McBride.

A Celebration of Life in Loving Memory of Michael will be held on Monday, February 2, 2026 at 1:00pm at Mariner Sands Country Club (6500 SE Mariner Sands Dr, Stuart, FL 34997).
