Mary Kay Buckridge

Mary Kathryn Buckridge, 94, affectionately known as Mary Kay, embarked on her final journey on January 19, 2026, at her cherished home. Born on August 15, 1931, in Long Branch, NJ, she lived a life marked by unwavering devotion—to her family, her community, and her passions.

An esteemed educator, Mary Kay dedicated her career as a Junior High School teacher in Cranford, NJ, inspiring countless young minds with her passion for learning. Her love for education was matched only by her commitment to her students, making her a beloved figure in the hallways she roamed and a beacon of support to those who sought her wisdom. Her academic journey culminated in a Master’s degree from Georgian Court University in Lakewood, NJ, a testament to her belief in the transformative power of education.

Beyond the classroom, Mary Kay's heart radiated warmth and guidance as a family advisor, bringing joy and support to her many nieces and nephews across New Jersey and Florida. Her outgoing spirit was infectious, and her zest for life was expressed through her myriad adventures across the globe—from the enchanting landscapes of Tuscany and the historic streets of Paris to the serene views of Switzerland, Portugal, and Alaska. Always seeking new horizons, she was eagerly planning a spring trip aboard a Mississippi River Paddle Boat, a voyage that would have showcased her adventurous soul. An avid sailor and boater, quiet moments on the water offered her solace and serenity, connecting her deeply to nature.

Mary Kay's accomplishments extended far beyond her travels; they reflected her compassion. A staunch advocate for those in need, she was heavily involved with Helping People Succeed, where her vision birthed the now 30-year-strong Arts for Living Calendar. Her role as past President and Board Member of the foundation showcased her leadership, while her ongoing support for organizations like the American Cancer Society and Treasure Coast Hospice exemplified her commitment to making a difference. She was passionate about supporting The American Cancer Society and St. Michael's School (now The Pine School.)

As a devout Catholic and a parishioner at St. Andrew Catholic Church, Mary Kay’s faith served as a foundation throughout her life, guiding her actions and interactions with others. Her presence in the Yacht and Country Club of Stuart was felt by many, anchoring her not just as a resident, but as a vibrant member of her community.

Mary Kay is survived by her many nieces and nephews whom she adored; Carolyn LaCorte-Kiamie of NJ, Michael LaCorte, of NJ, Rocque LaCorte of FL, Paul LaCorte of NJ, Barbara LaCorte of NJ Guy LaCorte of NJ and Dean LaCorte of NJ.

Mary Kay is reunited with her beloved husband, Charlie Buckridge, whose absence she felt keenly. While she leaves behind a legacy of love, support, and inspiration, her spirit lives on in the lives she touched and the memories she created with family and countless friends.

Her life will be honored with a Mass at Saint Andrew Catholic Church, 2100 SE Cove Road, Stuart, FL, on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at 10:00 AM, a moment to reflect on all that she has given to the world. While her passing leaves a void felt deeply by many, the love she shared and the laughter she sparked will continue to echo in the hearts of all who knew her. Mary Kathryn Buckridge, a true treasure in this world, will be profoundly missed but never forgotten.
