Manuel V. Arratia, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and devoted servant to his community, passed away peacefully on January 19, 2026, at the age of 89, surrounded by his loving wife and children.


Born on July 19, 1936, in Maiquetía, Venezuela, Manuel was a man of great strength, integrity, and compassion. Throughout his life, he demonstrated a deep commitment to service, education, and community involvement, generously giving of himself both in his native Venezuela and later in his adopted home in the United States—a country he loved dearly. His life reflected a steadfast belief in responsibility, caring for others, and lifelong learning. Manuel earned a Bachelor of Science in Technical Education from the University of Barquisimeto and later completed a Master’s in Technical Education with a specialization in Educational Curriculum. Highly respected for his pedagogical expertise, he was known for his clarity of thought, strong sense of responsibility, and exceptional ability to communicate complex ideas in a clear, concise, and meaningful way. His passion for teaching extended beyond the classroom—while in high school, he served as a math and physics tutor, where in 1956 he met his future bride, Elsie Josefina Arratia. Their partnership blossomed into a devoted marriage of 67 years, blessed with seven children, and marked by love, mutual respect, and unwavering support.


After retiring from his service with the Department of Defense as Education Executive Director in the town of Cabimas, Estado Zulia, Manuel devoted himself more fully to the arts. A successful real estate entrepreneur, educator, and art curator, he developed a deep appreciation for naïve painting and became a steadfast supporter of Elsie’s artistic journey, serving as her art curator and advocate. He also proudly honored and supported the legacy of his mother-in-law, Margarita Soto, a beloved and respected figure in their community, renowned for her midwifery skills and her contributions to the arts.


Manuel is survived by his devoted wife, Elsie Josefina Arratia, and their loving children: Janitze, Manlio, Elsie, Boris, Carmen, Julieta, and Sandra. As well as his brother, Boris and Adriana Arratia. He was a proud grandfather to 24 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren, who loved him dearly and will forever cherish his guidance, warmth, and presence.


His legacy continues through his children and their families, including Janitze and Juan Romero; Elsie and Dar Soleymani; Manlio Arratia; Boris and Victoria Arratia; Carmen and Jesus Sanoja; Julieta and Bob Desrosiers; and Sandra and Mario Tribioli, all of whom brought him immense joy and were an important part of his life.


Known for his quiet strength, resilience, and unwavering devotion to his family, Manuel led by example, teaching the values of unity, perseverance, and giving back—principles that will continue to live on through generations.


Visitation will be held on Monday, January 26, at 9:00 a.m. at Martin Funeral Home, 961 S. Kanner Highway, Stuart, FL 34994, followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church, 2555 NE Savannah Rd, Jensen Beach, FL 34957, at 11:00 a.m. Manuel will be laid to rest at All Saints Cemetery, NE Dixie Hwy, Jensen Beach, FL 34957, at 1:00 pm following the Mass.


He will be deeply missed and forever remembered for his strength, his service, and his boundless love.

Manuel V. Arratia, amado esposo, padre, abuelo y dedicado servidor de su comunidad, falleció en paz el 19 de enero de 2026, a sus 89 años, rodeado del amor de su esposa y sus hijos. Nacido el 19 de julio de 1936 en Maiquetía, Venezuela, Manuel fue un hombre de gran fortaleza, integridad y compasión. A lo largo de su vida demostró un profundo compromiso con el servicio, la educación y la participación comunitaria, entregándose generosamente tanto en su Venezuela natal como posteriormente en su hogar adoptivo, los Estados Unidos, país al que amó profundamente. Su vida reflejó una firme convicción en la responsabilidad, el cuidado del prójimo y el aprendizaje continuo.


Manuel obtuvo el título de Licenciado en Educación Técnica en la Universidad de Barquisimeto y posteriormente completó una Maestría en Educación Técnica con mención en Currículo Educacional. Altamente respetado por su trayectoria pedagógica, fue reconocido por su claridad de pensamiento, su alto sentido de responsabilidad y su extraordinaria capacidad para comunicar ideas complejas de manera clara, concisa y significativa. Su pasión por la enseñanza trascendió el aula; durante sus años de bachillerato se desempeñó como tutor de matemáticas y física, y fue allí donde en 1956 conoció a su futura esposa, Elsie Josefina Arratia. De esa unión nació un matrimonio ejemplar de 67 años, bendecido con siete hijos, marcado por el amor, el respeto mutuo y un apoyo incondicional.


Tras su retiro del Ministerio de Defensa, donde se desempeñó como Director Ejecutivo de Educación en la ciudad de Cabimas, Venezuela, Manuel se dedicó más plenamente al arte. Empresario exitoso en el área de bienes raíces, educador y curador de arte, desarrolló una profunda apreciación por la pintura naïf y se convirtió en un firme impulsor de la trayectoria artística de su esposa, acompañándola como su curador y principal apoyo. Asimismo, honró y respaldó con orgullo el legado de su suegra, Margarita Soto, una figura querida y respetada en su comunidad, reconocida por su labor como partera y por sus aportes al arte.


Manuel deja en vida a su amada esposa, Elsie Josefina Arratia, y a sus queridos hijos: Janitze, Manlio, Elsie, Boris, Carmen, Julieta y Sandra. También a su hermano Boris Arratia. Fue un orgulloso abuelo de 24 nietos y 27 bisnietos, quienes lo amaron profundamente y siempre atesorarán su guía, calidez y presencia. Su legado perdura a través de sus hijos y sus familias, incluyendo a Janitze y Juan Romero; Elsie y Dar Soleymani; Manlio Arratia; Boris y Victoria Arratia; Carmen y Jesús Sanoja; Julieta y Bob Desrosiers; y Sandra y Mario Tribioli, quienes fueron una fuente constante de alegría y una parte fundamental de su vida.

Las honras fúnebres se llevarán a cabo el lunes 26 de enero a las 9:00 a.m. en Martin Funeral Home, 961 S. Kanner Highway, Stuart, FL , seguidas de una Misa Funeral en la Iglesia St. Martin de Porres 2555 NE Savannah Rd, Jensen Beach, FL 34957 a las 11:00 a.m. Posteriormente, Manuel recibirá cristiana sepultura en el Cementerio All Saints Cemetery NE Dixie Hwy, Jensen Beach, FL 34957, at 1:00pm


Será profundamente extrañado y eternamente recordado por su fortaleza, su vocación de servicio y su amor infinito.
