It is with much sadness that we announce the passing of Linda Lee Rodgers. On Friday, June 12, 2026, Linda, 72, passed away in Stuart, FL.
Linda was born in Freeport New York on July 16, 1953, to parents Arthur and Mabel Poche. She grew up in New York where she met her husband, William Rodgers. In 1975, Linda married Bill, the love of her life; they were true love birds. Together they had two children, Lindsay and Joel. In time, they decided to relocate their family from Long Island to the Treasure Coast, where Linda would remain throughout the rest of her life.
Linda and Billy had a beautiful home in Hobe Sound where everyone felt welcome. The love they shared created an environment that naturally drew people in. Their guest room was rarely empty, and the house was a hub for friends, family, neighbors, and co-workers. Most of Joel and Lindsay’s friends considered Linda to be their second mom, often stopping by to visit after the kids moved away.
With marriage Linda gained 13 brothers and sisters-in-law, all of whom adored her and jokingly said that they would choose Linda over their own brother if there was ever a divorce. The feeling was mutual and in Linda’s final months she would talk endlessly about the good old days with her mother and father-in-law and their 14 kids.
Sadly, in 2005, Billy passed away from cancer, following a hard-fought battle, extensive treatment and endless support and care from Linda. Four years later, she met David Whitsett. Little did they know when they had dinner together for the first time that they would spend the next 16+ years together, from that night on.
Linda was a strong and determined lady who knew what she wanted. For longer than 30 years, Linda was a property/house manager on Jupiter Island, caring for large estates. Over the years, she worked for many prominent families. She had a fierce work ethic and demanded nothing less than everything being in order, done correctly and done efficiently.
Along with that strength and determination also came compassion and kindness- Linda was a natural caregiver. She cared for her father during the last years of his life just as she cared for her husband throughout his battle with cancer. Friends would be quick to tell you that she was incredibly caring and thoughtful, often going above and beyond the call of friendship.
When they were not working, Linda and Dave enjoyed spending much of their free time at the beach and in or on the water. Together they boated, sailed, fished, and snorkeled the local reefs. And when they weren’t in the water, Linda loved walking on the beach. They loved visiting the Keys and Dominican Republic together and made time to drive to various places in the country, visiting different parts of the United States. One of the places Linda especially loved visiting was Long Island; she made it a point to get back to visit her friends and in-laws once a year.
In addition to water sports and visiting new places, Linda also loved to cook! She cooked and baked for everyone and enjoyed making breakfast cake and chimichangas. She was an incredible hostess and treasured visits from her children and her grandchildren, spending time together at DuBois Park and the beach.
Linda leaves behind her two children, Joel Rodgers (Marissa) and Lindsay Rodgers and her partner James; her three grandsons, Caiden, William, and Gavin Rodgers; and her long-time significant other, David Whitsett.
In her 71 years, Linda touched many lives and showed much love; her spirit will continue on in our hearts and there is no doubt that she continues to watch over us.
