Lidia Maria Mera

Lidia Maria Mera, 69, of Port St. Lucie FL passed away peacefully surrounded be her loving family on August 8, 2026.

Lidia was born on March 27, 1957, to parents Alejandro and Inez Ponce in Manta, Ecuador. She was the fourth of 11 children- four girls and seven boys. Lidia grew up in Ecuador where she met and married her husband, Cesar Mera. The couple welcomed their first child, Juan Carlos, before relocating to the United States in 1977. They settled in New York where their family grew with the addition of their three children James, Cynthia and Gabriel. The family remained in New York until relocating to Margate Florida in 1991, where the children enjoyed the rest of their childhood.

While Lidia worked outside the home, her focus and priority was always her family. She, also, maintained close contact with her family in Ecuador, speaking frequently to her mother, sisters and brothers. Despite the distance between them, Lidia remained close to all of her siblings throughout her lifetime.

Lidia was a woman of strong faith and a lifelong devoted Catholic. She embraced and lived the Christian values she believed in. Always a supportive and loving mother to her four children and five grandchildren, spending time with her family brought her a tremendous amount of joy. Lidia loved Christmas and putting up her Christmas tree, knowing that the family would be together to celebrate the holiday. She was delighted by spending not only holidays together but as much time together as they could. Lidia and Cesar were very much looking forward to celebrating their 50th Wedding Anniversary and a life, together, well-lived. Her family was her most important accomplishment and her greatest source of pride.

While she leaves us with an unfillable void, Lidia also leaves us with an overwhelming sense of love and gratitude for all that she gave to those she loved throughout her life. She will be missed beyond measure, forever remaining in our hearts.

Lidia leaves behind her devoted husband, Cesar; her four children, Juan Carlos (Jackie), James, Cynthia and Gabriel (Elisa); her mother, Inez; her eight siblings; and her five grandchildren, Jacob, Jaycie, Julien, Hailey and Kaylee.

A Funeral Mass will be held for Lidia at St. Anastasia Catholic Church on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at 10:00am. (407 S 33rd St, Fort Pierce FL 34947)

Lidia nació el 27 de marzo de 1957 en Manta, Ecuador, hija de Alejandro y Inez Plúa. Fue la cuarta de once hijos. Creció en Ecuador, donde conoció y se casó con el amor de su vida, César Mera. Juntos compartieron 50 años de matrimonio, construyendo una vida llena de amor, dedicación y familia.

Aunque Lidia trabajó fuera de su hogar, su verdadera prioridad siempre fue su familia. Para ella, mantener a sus seres queridos unidos era una de las cosas más importantes de la vida. A pesar de la distancia, se mantuvo siempre muy cercana a su madre, hermanos, familiares y amistades en Ecuador, así como a la familia de su esposo en los Estados Unidos. Hablaba frecuentemente con ellos y nunca permitió que la distancia disminuyera el amor y los lazos que los unían.

Fue una madre amorosa y comprensiva para sus cuatro hijos, y una querida Mamita Lidia para sus cinco nietos. También encontró gran alegría en sus nueras y en compartir cada momento posible con su familia.

Aunque su partida nos deja un vacío imposible de llenar, Lidia también nos deja un inmenso legado de amor, recuerdos y gratitud. Nos enseñó el valor de la familia, la importancia de permanecer unidos y la fuerza de un amor que no conoce distancias.

Le sobreviven;

Su devoto esposo, César Mera; sus cuatros hijos, Juan Carlos (Jackie), James, Cynthia y Gabriel (Elisa); su madre, Inez; sus ocho hermanos; y sus cinco queridos nietos, Jacob, Jaycie, Julien, Hailey y Kaylee.
