Lawrence Joseph Boyle

On Saturday, March 7, 2026, Lawrence “Larry” James Boyle of Stuart, Florida passed away at the age of 70.

Larry was born in Long Island, New York, and moved with his family to the Stuart area in 1968 as a young teenager. It was here on Florida’s Treasure Coast that Larry developed the passion that would define his life — engines, horsepower, and the thrill of making machines perform beyond what anyone thought possible.

From an early age, Larry had a natural mechanical instinct; If it had a motor, he wanted to take it apart, understand it, rebuild it stronger and faster than before. Over the years, he built a reputation as an elite machinist, capable of turning worn-out engines into powerful, reliable machines. Boats, cars, motorcycles, tractors — nothing with a motor was safe from Larry’s tools and ingenuity.

He started working with Champion Motors early in life, started a retail parts store, "Big A" Auto Parts, and then opened his own machine shop, "Blockhead Machine." He completed his voyage with the Napa Family at the Performance Shop in Stuart. Here he was known among friends and colleagues as the guy you called when something mechanical went wrong. He had a gift for diagnosing problems others couldn’t solve, and took pride in helping people get back on the road, water or track. His mechanical knowledge was simply astonishing.

But above all else, Larry’s greatest pride and joy was his family; his love for his children and grandchildren defined his life. He always made sure they were taken care of on birthdays and holidays. One of his absolute favorite things was a family day at Sandsprit Park; it was a family fun day and was never without some type of motorized toy.

Larry leaves behind a legacy of hard work, mechanical brilliance, and the countless machines that still run stronger today because of his hands. Most of all, he leaves behind a family that will forever carry his memory forward.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, James and Veronica Boyle; his sons, Shawn and Aaron; and his son-in-law, Anthony “Tony” Joseph.

Larry leaves behind his long time companion, Rosa “Brenda” Newman; his sons, Christopher (Beth) and Andrew (Jennifer); his daughters, Rachel Joseph and Priscilla Holley; his cherished grandchildren Chris, Lauren, Kylie, Savannah, Jada, Katherine, Tyler, Alayna, Dominic, and Camden, along with great grandchildren Summer, Zachary, Watson and Lincoln; as well as, his brothers, James Boyle and Mark Boyle (Mary Sue).

A Viewing and Visitation will be held at Martin Funeral Home at the Stuart Chapel on Thursday, March 12th from 5:00pm-7:00pm. (961 S Kanner Hwy, Stuart FL 34994) A private family burial will take place the following day at Forest Hills Memorial Park.
