Judith Louise Santiago

Judy Santiago, 80, of Stuart, FL passed away peacefully on September 28, 2026.

Judy was born in Sidney, Ohio to Leonard (Chuck) and Dorothy Gariety, where she spent her childhood. After graduating from Sidney High School, Judy held a variety of jobs in Ohio, excelling in all of them- from secretarial work to her position as a Tupperware Sales Manager. Judy’s ability to adapt and excel in diverse work settings would be a tremendous asset throughout her career.

In 1981, after having to use her snowblower on Memorial Day (at the end of May!), Judy decided she never wanted to see snow again. She left Ohio and moved to South Florida.

After her move to Florida, Judy began working at Pratt & Whitney where, once again, she excelled in a variety of positions. Judy was always willing and eager to tackle new challenges, ever growing and advancing. She progressed from her role as a secretary to an engineering assistant, ultimately producing jet engine component drawings on a computer workstation.

Outside of work, Judy was an avid crafter; she used her eye for color and patterns to lovingly create beautiful quilts, given as gifts from the heart to her family and friends.

Judy was kind to everyone she met and loved by all who got to know her. She will be deeply missed.

Judy leaves behind her devoted husband Jorge; her daughter, Angela Austin (Tommy Gitto); her sister, Dodie Barlow; her brother, Chuck Gariety (Nadene); and many nieces and nephews.

A private celebration of Judy’s life will be held at a later date.
