John (Jack) O. Dodd, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully at home on May 13, 2025, at the age of 73. John was born and raised in Cambridge, Ohio, to John W. and Betty J. Dodd. It was in Cambridge that he met and married Sandra S. Stover on August 1, 1971. Together, they built a beautiful life sharing 53 years of marriage.
As a young man, Jack enjoyed playing the drums. From the age of 14 until he was 30, he played most weekends with the Versa Tones, a group of musicians that could regularly be heard in several clubs in Cambridge, Ohio, and the surrounding counties.
An electrician by trade, Jack owned Dodd Plumbing and Electric in Cambridge, Ohio. After moving to Florida, he worked at Cook Electric in Stuart, Florida, for over 25 years. He retired from Cook Electric in 2017. Always eager to help, Jack could often be found giving a hand to family and friends with their building projects. Even in retirement, it wasn't unusual for him to receive a phone call from an electrician asking for advice.
Jack loved all sports, especially football. He was a proud fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes. It was well known by family and friends not to call the Dodd house during an Ohio State football game! On the other side of the coin, he hung in there with the Dallas Cowboys, saying, "Well, there is always next year!"
Having a bit of wanderlust, he enjoyed traveling throughout the states and abroad. His suitcase was always the first packed and out the door. After returning from his first European vacation, when asked what he saw, he smiled playfully and said, "I saw a lot of dead men on horses!" No trip or cruise was too short or too long. For him, they just ended too soon.
But by far, his greatest love was his family. With a loving and generous heart, he cared for his wife, 2 children, and 5 grandchildren. He encouraged their passions and made time to support them. He was never happier than spending time with them.
Jack is survived by his wife Sandra, son John M. Dodd and his wife Joanne (Yoonhae), their 2 sons Jordan and Jaxson. His daughter, Angela L. Lucrezia, her husband Brian, and their 3 children, Nicholas, Jacob, and Emma. His faithful little rescue pup, Evie. His sister, Nancy Bennett of Coshocton, Ohio. His mother-in-law, Mary Stover, as well as several extended family members.
Jack lived a wonderful life with the people he cherished. He left the world a better place because he was in it. He will be deeply missed and forever loved.
A Celebration of Life is planned for the near future. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a donation be made to Treasure Coast Hospice.
