Jean "Jeannie" L. Dillon

Jeanne Louise Dillon, 79, of Hobe Sound, FL, peacefully passed away Friday, April 10, 2026, at 7:15 p.m. in the presence of family and friends at Treasure Coast Hospice, Stuart, FL, after recently being diagnosed with metastatic cancer.

She was born to Ralph and Louise Boches on June 5, 1946, in Milwaukee, WI. She eventually followed her sister Anne to the Davie/Miami area, where she received a degree from Miami Dade College. Following graduation, she accepted a police officer position with the City of Miami Police Department, where she rose to the rank of Detective Sergeant. In addition to the basic patrol duties, she investigated vice, narcotics, burglaries, robberies, homicides, frauds, forgeries, and various other crimes as a detective. During this time, she met her future husband, Allan (Al) Dillon, a Special Agent with the U. S. Secret Service, while conducting joint investigations.

Jeanne accompanied Al when he was transferred to Washington, D.C. in 1982 and lived in Vienna, VA. She obtained employment as Assistant Chief Technical Advisor for law enforcement with the newly-formed National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. And finally, she was hired as a Special Investigator for Nationwide Insurance Co., where she investigated fraudulent claims throughout the National Capital Area. In 1993, she moved to Hobe Sound, FL, when her husband retired, but continued to work for Nationwide until the age of 50, when she retired.

Since retirement, she has spent numerous hours teaching tennis at the Boys and Girls Clubs and was active with Big Brothers Big Sisters, where she developed a bond with her "little sister" Kathy. She had a lifelong love of books and enjoyed discussing them with others, especially children, for whom she provided many books and frequently read to them. Jeanne has been a member of the Mariner Sands Tennis Club in Stuart since 1999, where she made many friends on the tennis and pickleball courts, at the card tables, and at the Mariner Sands Library, where she served on the Library Committee for many years.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her daughter Nancy in 2017. She is survived by her loving husband, Al, of 49 years, sister Anne of Gainesville, FL, stepsons Robert Gregg Dillon (Risa) of Montross, VA, Gary Michael Dillon (Tavia) of Crozet, VA, six grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

At her request, there will be no formal funeral.  An Memorial  Inurnment will be held on Wednesday, April 22, 2026 at 11:00 am at Mariner Sands Memorial Garden, 6500 SE Congressional Way, Stuart, FL  34997 with Pastor Gary Carr officiating.

For those wishing to commemorate her life in the form of a monetary donation, she suggested the American Cancer Society, Treasure Coast Hospice, where she received truly excellent and compassionate care during her last days, Big Brothers Big Sisters of America, or Boys and Girls Clubs of America. And please, if you have the time, get a child interested in reading and tennis or other sports, and consider adopting a homeless animal.

Jeanne was one of the most loving, compassionate, and dependable people on the face of this earth. She enjoyed people of all ages and backgrounds and assisted many through her volunteer efforts. Her loss leaves an immense void that hopefully can eventually be diminished somewhat by future good thoughts and deeds of all who have known her.
