Jane Mumford Amsler passed away peacefully at her home in Stuart, Florida, on April 14, 2025, just as she was preparing to travel to Maine. Born on June 1, 1934, in Concord, Massachusetts, Jane lived a life filled with adventure, elegance, and deep connections.
Jane and her beloved husband Bill, to whom she was married for 60 years, shared a passion for travel and exploration. Together, they crisscrossed the world, often flying their own plane so they could bring along their cherished poodles—four over the years—who were constant companions. After 15 years in New York, they moved to New Hampshire, where they built and ran a successful business from home for over 35 years, made possible by years of careful saving and teamwork.
Known for her beauty, grace, and impeccable sense of style, Jane was always chic and “dressed to the nines.” She had a gentle presence, a calming voice, and an infectious laugh that endeared her to all who knew her. Jane was a thoughtful and engaged friend, whether discussing politics, the latest miniseries, or her plans for dinner. Her handwritten Christmas cards and letters were treasured keepsakes, sent faithfully each year.
A fabulous cook and gifted gardener, Jane took great pride in her home and gardens, creating spaces of beauty and warmth. Her life was a rich tapestry of family, friends, and joyful moments.
Jane is survived by her sister, several nieces and nephews, and many dear friends. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bill, in December 2019. She will be laid to rest beside him in Camden, Maine. Per her wishes, no services will be held.
Jane will be remembered always for her elegance, warmth, and the enduring friendships she nurtured throughout her life.
