James "Jim" Michael Killeen

James (Jim) M. Killeen, 88, passed away peacefully at his home in Port St. Lucie, Florida, on Friday, September 25, 2026.

Jim is survived by Suzanne, his beloved wife of 48 years, his two sons and their wives, Patrick Killeen and Lisa, and Mark Killeen and Gina, his sister, Judy Konopka, and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, who were all dearly loved by Jim but are too numerous to list.

Jim, or “Jimmy” to many of his family and friends, was born in Chicago in 1938 to James and Minnie Lullo Killeen and grew up in Melrose Park, Illinois. After graduating from Proviso High School where he played on the Varsity Football Team, Jim worked at his Uncle Tony Lullo’s construction business. He then moved on to work for International Harvester as a steamfitter-pipefitter before moving to Florida in 1974.

To say Jim was an avid fisherman is an understatement. For most of his life Jim owned a boat and fished everywhere, from Canada to the Mississippi River, to the Everglades and the Florida Keys. He also enjoyed golfing, snorkeling and scuba diving but mostly fishing. Jim was a great cook and one of his specialties was Cioppino, an Italian fish stew, or his own recipe of baked fish coated in Italian breadcrumbs with lots of garlic and butter. Did I mention he loved fishing!

Jim had many life-time friendships with buddies he grew up with and when those friends died, he continued the friendships with their children, who called him Uncle Jimmy. Jim was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother, and friend. He was a very kind and generous man whose life was well-lived. He will be deeply missed.

A Celebration of Jim’s Life with family and friends will be held at the end of October.

Suzanne, Mark and Gina and Patrick and Lisa extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Treasure Coast Hospice and all those who provided comfort, care, and support to Jim and his loved ones during this difficult time.
