Gloria Marlene Tennyson, 88, of Stuart, Florida, passed away peacefully on August 26, 2026, with her daughter by her side.
Gloria was born on February 26, 1938, in Brooklyn, New York, to John and Henrietta Filizof. She was their only child. Gloria grew up in Brooklyn, where she met and married the love of her life, Thomas Tennyson. Together, they settled in New Jersey and raised their three daughters, Karen, Cynthia, and Gloria.
Gloria’s focus and priority were always her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who found her greatest joy in spending time with the people she loved.
Gloria and her husband, Tom, eventually became “snowbirds,” making Stuart, Florida, their second home. They loved Stuart dearly and enjoyed sharing their time between Florida and New Jersey so they could remain close to family.
Gloria and Tom were avid cruisers and traveled around the world together. The stories they brought home from their adventures always brought laughter and joy to their family and friends.
Gloria was a woman of deep faith and a lifelong, devoted Catholic. She embraced and lived the Christian values she believed in, showing love, compassion, and kindness throughout her life. Even as her memory declined, she continued to recite the Lord’s Prayer at Mass—a beautiful reflection of the faith that remained at the center of her life.
Gloria was a loving and supportive mother to her three daughters and a devoted grandmother to her five grandchildren. Her family was her greatest source of happiness, and the time she spent with them brought her tremendous joy.
While Gloria leaves behind an immeasurable void, she also leaves an overwhelming sense of love and gratitude for all that she gave to those around her throughout her life. Her warmth, faith, laughter, and love will be deeply missed and forever remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
Gloria leaves behind her three daughters, Karen Brady, Cynthia Jones, and Gloria Matthews; her sons-in-law, Thomas Brady (deceased), Ron Jones, and Michael Matthews; and her five grandchildren, Thomas, Kirsten, Alison, Megan, and Nicolette.
Gloria will be laid to rest alongside her beloved husband, Thomas Tennyson, at Fair View Cemetery in Middletown, New Jersey.
A Memorial Mass will be held for Gloria at St. Christopher Catholic Church in Hobe Sound, Florida, on October 9, 2026, at 11:00 a.m.
