Doris Amelia (Miss Dottie) Pollhein was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, friend, and above all, a servant of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She was called home by her Savior at age 94 on January 24th, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.
Doris was born on January 12th, 1930, in Baltimore, Maryland to Clarence and Viola Baublitz. She married the late Reverend Dr. Carl K. Pollhein on August 18th 1951. Doris was a lifelong Presbyterian serving as a pastor’s wife, an elder and in many other capacities in the church. Carl and Doris pastored multiple churches in the Baltimore Maryland area, eventually moving to Binghamton, New York to pastor the Immanuel Presbyterian Church, then moving to Pitman New Jersey to pastor the First Presbyterian Church before relocating to Stuart, Florida in 1975 to pastor the First Presbyterian Church of Stuart and later, Peace Presbyterian Church.
Doris’ career included pre-school teacher, bookkeeper, and office assistant. Working with children was her passion! She Even occasionally entertained as a clown along with her daughter, Joy.
She is survived by her daughter Joyce White and husband Joseph, and her son, Stephen Pollhein and wife Cecelia. She has four grandchildren, Anthony Capelli and his wife Elisabeth, Ryan White, Christin White, and Sara Pollhein, and one great grandchild, Luca Capelli. She was predeceased by her parents, Clarence and Viola Baublitz, and her brother Clarence (Bobby) Baublitz.
