David E. Webster

David E. Webster, 78, of Jensen Beach, Florida, passed away peacefully on June 11, 2026, at Hospice House in Stuart, Florida.

Born on July 7, 1947, in Hanover, Indiana, David was the son of the late Mildred and Curtis Webster. David was an exceptional athlete in his youth and was widely known as a phenomenal basketball player at Southwestern High School in Hanover, Indiana. On March 19, 1965, David married his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, Sally Kirk Webster. Together they shared 61 wonderful years of marriage, building a life centered on love, family, and friendship.

He was a proud graduate of Indiana University, where he earned a Master of Science in Education and began a lifelong commitment to teaching and helping others. His passion for people led him into education, where he found his true calling. David devoted his career to teaching sixth-grade students and later served as a school principal. Although he excelled in leadership, he deeply missed the daily interaction with students and chose to return to the classroom, where he continued to inspire young minds. He was a dedicated educator whose impact was felt by generations of students and colleagues.

Outside of his career, David cherished time spent with family and friends on the Ohio River. Whether water skiing, boating, or simply enjoying a peaceful day on the water, those moments brought him great joy. He served as a board member of the Riverfront Development Committee for several years. He also loved to travel and held a special affection for Santa Fe, New Mexico and Wrightsville Beach, North Carolina, where he enjoyed spending time throughout the years.

In his later years, David became deeply involved in the Community Foundation of Madison and Jefferson County. Most recently, he and Sally founded G1K, an organization dedicated to creating lasting positive change in Jefferson County, Indiana, through the power of collective giving. His commitment to strengthening communities reflected the generosity and compassion that defined his life.

David leaves behind his beloved wife, Sally K. Webster of Jensen Beach, Florida; his children, JD Webster and his fiancé Missy Perry, of Madison, Indiana, and Stephanie Webster Brittain of Wilmington, North Carolina; his grandchildren, Kennedy Webster Clan and husband Spencer, Kirk Webster, Jaden Webster, Savannah Brittain, and August Brittain and wife Sami; and his great-grandchildren, Hayden Clan, Easton Clan, and Shepard Clan. He is also survived by his sister, Mary Blaney of Hanover, Indiana. In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his siblings, Bob Webster, Jim Webster, Dennis Webster, Lois Liter, Pat Copeland, and Linda Webster.

David lived life to its fullest. He loved his wife and family fiercely and was known by all who met him as a generous, kind, and compassionate man. He was the rock of his family, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, educator, and friend. His positivity was steadfast and helped others to face life’s most daunting challenges with determination, perseverance and hope. One of his favorite quotes, “Everything is going to be okay” was both incredibly simple and impactful at the same time. His legacy of love, service, and integrity will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know him.

Per David's request, there will be no memorial service at this time. A Celebration of Life with family and friends will be held at a later date.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Hospice House and all those who provided comfort, care, and support to David and his loved ones during this difficult time.
