The full story of Candice Larson is one of love, strength, and family. She passed away in May, leaving behind a legacy of fortitude and a lifetime of cherished memories. Her spirit lives on in those who loved and knew her most. Born Candice Adrienne Medick on June 11, 1952, in Providence, Rhode Island, she was raised in Miami Shores, FL, and then moved to Stuart when her family was young, where she spent the last 30 years of her life. She cherished the memories of old and looked forward to the many adventures ahead. Candice had an enormous heart, quick wit, inspiring courage, and incredible strength.
While petite in stature, Candice had a larger-than-life personality, which was on full display in the presence of others. Candice graduated from Edison High School and furthered her education at the Rhode Island College of Education and Miami Dade Junior College. Most of her professional experiences consisted of retail sales and management. Her favorite job was in the mid-90s when she served as the Trade Book Manager at Barry University’s Bookstore. She had a zest for life and thoroughly enjoyed being around youthful, ambitious collegiates. Her latest role was serving as a Volunteer at the Humane Society of the Treasure Coast’s central thrift store, where she expeditiously put merchandise away every Thursday afternoon, so swiftly as a matter of fact, that she was awarded the “Roadrunner” superlative at the Volunteer Appreciation Party in 2024.
Candice was also quite crafty and very chic with a sense of style that far exceeded her own daughters’ wardrobes! She took great pride in maintaining a beautiful home and so looked forward to welcoming family around the holidays and extended visits where all would cram in around the kitchen table and talk and laugh for hours as she notoriously sipped her scalding hot coffee. Candice was a spitfire with an irreverent and wild sense of humor, leaving so many she chatted with in stitches! She was also very loyal and stayed connected with several childhood friends, many relationships extending more than 60 years; a true testament of her loyalty to those she held dear. Candice loved working in the yard, going shopping, reading, snacking on junk food, watching scary movies, taking morning walks, caring for her kitty, Brunhilde, listening to The Rolling Stones, decorating for the holidays, reminiscing about the past, and most importantly, doting on her kids (especially her baby boy!) She was even an adventurer and recently went primitive camping for the first time with two of her daughters and their families.
Her family finds comfort knowing Candice has joined so many she has loved and lost in this life, only to reconnect with them for eternity in the next. Candice is at rest with her late husband, Don, whom she missed dearly; her big sister, Jacquelyn Frohbose; her father, Jack Medick; her stepfather, Fredrik Rasmussen; and her precious baby, Erin Elizabeth, gone too soon. Candice is survived by her loving mother, Celeste Pettis, identical twin sister Christine Ramker (Richard), and four loving children, Adrienne Deen (Josh), Hillary Chess (Anthony), Courtney Zanetti (Dante), and Kyle Larson (Lana). She was the proudest grandmother to nine grandchildren whom she absolutely adored, including Kalyn Cuellar (Lance), Joshua and Emily Chess, Sael and Wilder Deen, Ellison and Anna Larson, and Evelyn and Iris Zanetti. Her extended family, although spread far and wide, was also near and dear, including Paul Ciasullo (Evelyn), several cousins, and nephews, William Frohbose (Roko), and Keith Ramker.
Funeral arrangements will be privately held with family and loved ones. In lieu of flowers, the family asks those who want to honor Candice to please make a gift in memory of her to one of the many organizations she supported: the Humane Society of the Treasure Coast (www.hstc1.org/Donate), St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (www.stjude.org/donate), or Veterans of Foreign Wars (www.vfw.org/donate).
Candice was a faithful Catholic and found comfort in her personal relationship with God. Until we meet again in heaven... “Butterflies, Unicorns, Rainbows, and Flowers.”
