Brenda Lee Tychan, 74 of Port St. Lucie, Florida passed away at the Cabana of Jensen Dunes on December 4, 2023. She was born in Parkersburg, West Virginia, daughter of the late Richard Backus and Eloise Stephens.

She loved being with her family and friends more than anything.

Brenda was a graduate of Belpre High School and Ohio University. She earned a masters degree from George Mason University.

In her professional life Brenda taught English and reading for thirty years in Ohio and Virginia.  She later worked as an adjunct professor at Indian River State College.  Her legacy lies in the wonderful influence she had on hundreds of young lives through education.

She spent many hours in volunteer endeavors including work with the Martin County Public Defender, Port St. Lucie Meals on Wheels, and tutoring reading to elementary school students.

Brenda had an enchanting personality full of kindness, love, laughter and enthusiasm. She enjoyed bowling, golfing, playing music on her I-pod, and especially dancing. She delighted in cruising Virginia and Florida waters on “Irish Eyes”. Her mere presence brightened the lives of all she encountered. She was loved by everyone and cherished by her husband. She is with God now.
