Bernard R.
Boniface
June 15, 1939 – April 28, 2026
Bernard R. Boniface, affectionately known as "Bernie," passed away on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, under the tender loving care of Treasure Coast Hospice, surrounded by the love and comfort of his wife of 41 years, Starr. Born on June 15, 1939, in Charleston, South Carolina, Bernie lived a life marked by entrepreneurial spirit, dedication to his wife and family, and a deep appreciation for the outdoors.
Bernie proudly owned and operated multiple Boniface-Hiers Automotive Group locations serving the Merritt Island and Melbourne, Florida communities with distinction. His business insight and commitment to quality service left a lasting impact on the industry and those he worked with. Approximately 35 years ago, he relocated to the Sewall’s Point area, where he cultivated his many interests.
Outside of his business pursuits, Bernie found joy in tournament fishing, water skiing, snow skiing, and golf. He was also a part-owner of Jim Smith Tournament Boats, reflecting his love for the water, boating, and fishing lifestyle. These hobbies not only brought him personal satisfaction but also allowed him to connect with friends and family in cherished moments of leisure and adventure.
Bernie is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Starr, who stood faithfully by his side through all seasons of life. He also leaves behind a family tree including his nieces and nephews, Ray, Ann, Maureen, Michael, Patty, Larry, and Christine. All will remember him fondly for his warmth and guidance.
He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, George Christopher Boniface and Helen Greene Boniface, as well as a sister, Ann Molony, and a brother, George Boniface, and nephews Bernie and Richie, whose memories live on in the hearts of those who knew them.
He will be remembered with great respect and affection by all who were fortunate to know him. The world he leaves behind is better for his presence, and his memory will continue to inspire those whose lives he touched.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
