Arthur (Artie) W. Hill, Jr., age 74, of Stuart, Florida, passed away on April 12, 2026, after a lengthy illness. He was surrounded by his loving family during his final moments.
Born in Kew Gardens, New York, on March 23, 1952, Artie was the son of Olive V. (Windus) Hill and Arthur W. Hill, both of whom predeceased him. Artie is survived by his beloved son, Jason A. Hill; his daughter-in-law, Meghn; and his cherished granddaughters, Jayne and Edee. As the eldest of six children, he is also survived by his siblings: Patricia O. Galloway (Michael), Donna M. Deakins (David), and Steven T. Hill (Ellyn). He was preceded in death by his brothers, William H. Hill, who recently passed away, and Thomas M. Hill, who passed away in infancy. Artie was the head of a large extended family consisting of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and out-laws, all of whom will deeply miss him.
In his youth, he was a competitive gymnast and notably one of the very few high school student-athletes to perform an iron cross in competition. Prior to his illness, Artie led an active lifestyle. He was an avid golfer, enjoyed running, fishing, and boating, and was an outdoor camper throughout his life. He created many happy memories with his family and friends during these activities. Professionally, Artie served as a production control supervisor with the electronics division of Harris Semiconductor in Melbourne, Florida, and later at Florida RF Labs in Stuart, Florida. Most recently, before retiring, he was a life and health agent with Deakins-Carroll Insurance in Stuart. Artie was actively engaged in his community through professional networking with the Martin County Chamber of Commerce. He volunteered for many years as a member of the pit crew for the Sertoma Boat Races in Stuart and contributed his time to the Martin County Arts Council and the annual Arts Festival in downtown Stuart. A well-known personality in town, Artie, will be missed by the many friends and colleagues he gathered throughout his active years in the community.
A Celebration of Life will be held on May 3, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at The Pearl, 4745 SE Desoto Avenue, Stuart, FL 34997.
